Centralising the headquarters - bringing all departments under one roof
The Mälarenergi Group, in collaboration with Sigholm, carried out an extensive evaluation to find a new location for its headquarters. The aim was to bring all departments together in one central location to promote collaboration and efficiency. This need arose because the departments had previously been spread across several locations in Västerås, a direct consequence of the group's expansion and the increased need for larger office and storage space.
To realise the vision of a unified workspace, the need for a comprehensive property that could bring together large parts of the group was identified. A specific property was identified that met these criteria. However, there were competing interests from other companies for the same property, which necessitated further investigations. These investigations were aimed at determining which departments could be integrated into the common property and which required separate premises in which to operate.
The projects were grouped into a common project portfolio
Based on the initial investigations, the work resulted in a division into several different property projects for further investigation. To streamline the process and ensure clarity, these projects were compiled into a project portfolio. Mr Sigholm was appointed as the main project manager for this portfolio and also took on the role of sub-project manager for specific sub-projects within the framework of the whole.
As main project manager, Sigholm was responsible for investigating options for new construction and refurbishment of office, workshop, garage and storage space, as well as the establishment of a new operations centre with the highest possible safety standards. This role also involved managing and analysing location issues, and producing informed decision-making documents for the project portfolio steering committee.
Additional responsibilities included:
- Managing, leading and coordinating the sub-projects and their sub-project managers in accordance with the directives of the Executive Committee
- Responsible for and defining the financial, time, quality, environmental and health and safety conditions of the projects
- Regularly monitor and report on the progress and status of the projects.
